Belinda Parker
Belinda began her yoga journey in 2003 when she joined a studio in Canada where she lived for a number of years before moving south to NC in 2011. She tried multiple studios and eventually found her home at iShine where she gained her RYT 200-hour certificate in June 2023. As a recovered alcoholic, Belinda fully embraces the 12-step recovery program. She completed her Y12SR training through its founder, Nikki Myers, in 2023 and is passionate about offering this unique yoga and recovery practice to the community. Her style of teaching embodies the encouragement and warmth that she conveys through her high school teaching career. The essence of her classes is safety and support. Y12SR: Designed to address the physical, mental, and spiritual disease of addiction, Y12SR (Yoga 12 Step Recovery) classes combine the somatic approach of yoga with the cognitive approach of the 12-step recovery model – the most well-known addiction recovery program in the world. Whether you are working to overcome addiction or are impacted by the addictive behavior of others, Y12SR is for you. You do not need to be in recovery to participate in this program but the integrity of those who share in class must be maintained. Classes consist of 30 minutes recovery-based discussion, followed by 30 minutes of supportive yoga to help with the dis-ease of the body and mind. Expect gentle poses and flows, breath work and essential oils with hands-on assist. The overall feeling of this class is emotional and physical support.
